A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO NON MEDICAL PRESCRIBING

From Spring 2006 qualified Nurse Independent Prescribers and Pharmacist Independent Prescribers will be able to prescribe any licensed medicine for any medical condition, with the exception of controlled drugs.

Extending prescribing responsibilities is an important element of the government’s agenda to modernise health services; its primary purpose being to provide better continuity of care to patients. It will improve access and convenience for patients, reduce waiting times and give greater choice.

The purpose of this conference is to equip individuals and organisations with the skills and knowledge required to embark on this new way of delivering patient care. It will also ensure that participants are aware of the challenges and potential pitfalls and how best to deal with them. The workshops will be highly interactive and will provide the opportunity to share information and good practice.
