Overview
The biggest and best one day event for all managers working in Primary Care. 4 conferences – ‘Mix and Match’ to create your own programme

Practice Based Commissioning
As PCTs and practice based commissioners continue to grapple with the development of practice based commissioning, progress has uncovered a range of challenges and some inspirational developments from across the country.

This timely conference will consider and discuss solutions to the most pertinent challenges in moving PBC forward and will also showcase case studies from PCTs and practice based commissioners, dissecting their success and their mistakes on the way.

Commissioning
As we strive for a more responsive, patient led NHS, commissioning is fundamental to the delivery of this goal. In this aim, commissioners must understand the needs, experience and expectations of their communities. In turn, the challenge is to develop world class commissioning as a lever to ensure that appropriate services and pathways of care are available in a timely, cost effective manner and where possible closer to home. Within this process tendering and contracting for services are critical as a mechanism for accountability and to ensure appropriate service delivery.

This conference will consider, discuss and provide clarity on the real issues faced by commissioner at this critical point in time. To support the theory the conference will provide case studies that offer ‘real life’ practical experience and solutions. A number of sessions will also guide you through the maze of tendering and contracting providers.

Market Development
As the NHS strives to develop a mixed health economy, commissioners are faced with a range of complex challenges: how to engage with current and alternative providers, how to stimulate both current and new market entrants in providing quality health care solutions, how to test new and old service models, how to regulate and govern the new pluralistic market, how to work effectively with a plurality of providers, how to strengthen
partnership working with local government and how to develop the market to innovatively deliver 18 weeks.

This critical event will help you work your way through the maze of effective market development and will offer practical guidance on the effective development and management of a pluralistic market in your health economy.

Developing PCT Provider Services
As PCTs seek to divest their provider function in light of recent reforms and restructuring, the path ahead is unclear. In order to develop localised services that deliver healthcare inline with patients’ needs, PCTs must analyse their local market and a spectrum of issues before they begin to consider the form, structure and governance models of their provider arms.

This HCC conference has been developed as a ‘step by step’ guide to the process of analysing the market and developing your PCT’s provider arm to deliver a variety of objectives. The conference will offer insightful guidance around the considerations for those leading the development of their PCT’s provider function.
