The challenge of delivering the right care, in the right place at the right time
As demand for urgent and emergency care continues to increase, the challenge to the NHS is set to continue. In response to this challenge, one of the Department of Health’s strategies is clear: Deliver the right care, in the right place at the right time as safely as possible. However, in order to deliver this aim health and social care economies must create integrated systems with smooth pathways of care regardless of the provider.

Evidence of local excellence in urgent and emergency care is not hard to find. However, in order to continue this progress health and social care economies must share best practice and learning, as we implement a truly integrated urgent and emergency care service that puts the needs of the patient at the heart of future improvements.

To facilitate this process ‘Urgent and Emergency Care 2007’ will offer clinicians, managers, leaders, co-ordinators, directors and advisors an opportunity to share best practice, hear case studies, network and receive guidance and clarity.

The challenge of working in partnership across cultural and organisational boundaries
To implement a systematic urgent and emergency care model, health and social care must co-ordinate their activities to deliver integrated patient-centred services.

This national event will bring together the many health and social care cohorts to communicate and share best practice with the aim of facilitating the process of working together across cultural and organisational boundaries.
